In general, Autodesk allows any developer to create software or documentation for Autodesk products, including any of the above APIs. Users can also build their own, third-party products which can make use of Autodesk’s own products. Autodesk has in the past published a series of open source 3D rendering engines and modeling tools, which are often referenced in the above products.

To extend AutoCAD with new features and functionality, third-party products can be written in a number of programming languages, including Visual Basic, Visual C++, ObjectARX, Java, or AutoLISP. Any applications written in C++ can call the AutoCAD API to access the relevant functionality in AutoCAD. Many third-party application developers use Autodesk Exchange to extend AutoCAD functionality.

Although the tools and technical documentation for 3D and animation have been available for a long time, 3D applications are relatively rare. A 2011 survey of active users found that 80 percent of respondents are Autodesk customers.

AutoCAD LT is an entry-level design suite offered by Autodesk for the MS Windows platform. The suite includes AutoCAD LT, which is a version of AutoCAD without 3D capability. It is also a CAD application. The other components are web browser, integrated tools and software for document preparation and collaboration. The software is sold on a time-limited trial basis.

AutoCAD LT Core provides core features of a 3D Drafting package. The package includes the following:

The drawings can be AutoCAD-compatible DXF files.

Drawing Images

Image viewing and editing features

Create a drawing from a selected image

Insert existing image into drawing

Pick a region from an image

Extrude/Fillet/Round features

Extrude a 3D object from a polyline

Extrude/Fillet/Round 3D lines and arcs

Fillet/Round features in more than 3 dimensions

3D shapes

Create and edit 3D solids, surfaces, and solid-hole solids.

Slope functions

Set a slope to a curve or part.

Calculate the surface area, perimeters, and other geometric properties of a solid.

Add parts to a part family

Part management

Create, edit,

Go to edit and save the setup file, you should see a new text file called “setup.exe”.

Once setup.exe is saved, open the file with Notepad and find the DataFieldID,
DecodeCode, and DataValueID and add a decimal number to each of them, in this case, the DataFieldID is 1, the DecodeCode is 255, and the DataValueID is 2.

Here is an example of the values in the setup.exe file:

Run the setup.exe and you should see a box appear on your screen. You should be presented with the option to import your list.
Click Import and once complete it should open the file.
Click Open and then the message Import Success should appear.
Click OK and you should be prompted to close the main window.

Now, there is a side effect to this method of importing.
When you open Autodesk, it will tell you that the license is not valid, but that is because it will not be able to view the drawing.
We need to make sure that the following values are added to the setup.exe file.
Autodesk Tagging Tool Server

Once you have finished adding these options, save the setup file with the

Get out of the drawing template window with one click. Just double-click the drawing template window’s title bar. (video: 1:44 min.)

Design Environment Improvements:

Advance your CAD design skills in a whole new way. A new methodology for digital modeling takes you step-by-step through the process of modeling, designing, and prototyping using the new Design Environment.

Convert standard paper sizes to CAD sheets and rotate parts automatically. With the new Tools > Export CAD sheet command, you can export paper size settings to a DWG file and automatically rotate a part to the correct orientation. (video: 2:40 min.)

Visualize any color, anywhere, without coloring up your entire drawing. Select a portion of your drawing and choose the new Tools > Lab Colors… command. (video: 2:09 min.)
