Actor Johnny Galecki just sold his 1920s Spanish-style Hollywood Hills home for a profit-making $11.1 million, The Los Angeles Times reports. Galecki, known for his starring role in The Big Bang Theory, paid $9.2 million for the property in 2015 and listed it for rent last year at $45,000 per month before finally putting it on the market last August. The pricey sale is the fifth most expensive deal closed in the neighborhood this year.
Located in Outpost Estates, a coveted Hollywood Hills enclave home to celebrity neighbors that include Winona Ryder and Russell Brand, the six-bedroom and six-bathroom villa was itself previously owned by action star Jason Statham, who bought it from Ben Stiller for $7.3 million in 2011. Stiller spent over 10 years at the luxe abode, renovating it to fit his needs and outfitting it in period-accurate style.
The compound is made up of a 1929-built main house, a two-room guesthouse, and an elaborate loggia connecting them, complete with a fireplace decorated with blue and yellow mosaic tiles. The 7,415-square-foot main house is decked out in all the classic trappings of a Spanish-style structure, including a neutral stucco exterior topped by a terracotta roof, with elaborate tilework and impressive archways found throughout its interior and exterior spaces.
Inside, a living room with dark hardwood floors and matching exposed beams boasts a fireplace and connects to a billiards room via an arched doorway in the middle of a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf wall with a classic sliding library ladder. Other interior highlights include a large period-style kitchen, a wood-paneled theater with plush violet carpeting and a matching velvety sectional, and a chic 1920s speakeasy with tin ceilings.
An expansive and colorful mosaic-tiled pool and spa area featuring a fountain and an adjacent firepit is the crown jewel of the outdoor area, nestled amongst palm trees and other lush landscaping.
